Halsey Reveals Private Health Battle, Announces New Album and Charity Donations
LOS ANGELES – Pop star Halsey has disclosed her ongoing battle with illness in a heartfelt Instagram post on Tuesday. The singer shared a series of videos showing her receiving medical infusions and opened up about her health struggles.
“Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive,” Halsey wrote in the caption. “Short story long, I wrote an album.” While the exact diagnosis remains unclear, Halsey’s representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.
In one of the videos, Halsey candidly expressed, “I feel like an old lady,” while rubbing her legs in apparent discomfort. She added, “I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick. At 30, I’m having a rebirth and I’m not gonna be sick and I’m gonna look super hot and have lots of energy and I’m just gonna get to re-do my 20s in my 30s.”
Coinciding with her health revelation, Halsey released a new song titled “The End,” an acoustic guitar ballad that has already garnered significant attention. This single is part of her upcoming album, a follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2021 album, “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power,” produced by Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Alongside the release of “The End,” Halsey announced charitable donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Lupus Research Alliance, demonstrating her commitment to supporting others facing similar health challenges.
In 2022, Halsey revealed on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with several chronic illnesses, including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogren’s syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). These conditions have contributed to her ongoing health issues and have impacted her personal and professional life.
Despite her health struggles, Halsey remains optimistic about the future. Her determination to overcome her illnesses and her commitment to her music and philanthropy are inspiring her fans and followers worldwide. As she prepares to release her new album, Halsey’s resilience and talent continue to shine through.
