Tragic Bus Accident in Balochistan Claims 28 Lives, Injures 22
Washuk, Balochistan – In a devastating accident, at least 28 people, including women and children, were killed when a passenger bus overturned and plunged into a ditch in Balochistan’s Washuk district on Wednesday morning.
Rescue and Levies officials reported that around 22 passengers sustained injuries and were swiftly transported to the Civil Hospital in Basima for treatment. The tragic incident occurred after a tyre burst on the bus traveling from Gwadar to Quetta.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep condolences, offering prayers for the deceased and urging immediate assistance for the injured. Balochistan’s Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti also conveyed his sympathies, praying for the recovery of the wounded.
This accident adds to a series of tragic road incidents in recent months. In May, a truck accident in Punjab’s Khushab district resulted in the deaths of 13 family members and injured nine others due to brake failure. Similarly, another bus crash in Diamer district, Gilgit Baltistan, left 20 dead and 21 injured after the vehicle veered off a narrow mountain road.
Authorities continue to emphasize the need for improved road safety measures to prevent such catastrophic events in the future.
