Canada Dominates Norway 4-1 in World Hockey Championship
Defending champion Canada showcased its dominance once again at the world hockey championship with a resounding 4-1 victory over Norway. Dylan Cozens led the charge with a short-handed goal, securing his third goal of the tournament and maintaining Canada’s unbeaten streak.
Canada’s performance against Norway was a stark contrast to their previous nail-biting encounter with Austria, where they narrowly clinched victory in overtime after conceding five third-period goals. This time, Canada left nothing to chance, delivering a commanding performance from start to finish.
Brandon Tanev, Andrew Mangiapane, and Jared McCann joined Cozens on the scoresheet, showcasing Canada’s offensive firepower. The team outshot Norway 33-6, demonstrating their dominance on the ice.
Coach Andre Tourigny commended his team’s mature and disciplined approach to the game, highlighting their commitment and comprehensive performance on both offense and defense. The victory was a testament to Canada’s resilience and determination to bounce back after their previous game’s chaotic ending.
Notably, goaltender Nicolas Daws made an impressive debut, stepping up in place of Jordan Binnington and Joel Hofer. Daws made five saves and even contributed offensively with an assist on McCann’s empty-net goal.
Despite Norway’s efforts, including a goal by Stian Solberg and solid goaltending from Henrik Haukeland, they were unable to match Canada’s intensity and skill on the ice.
With this win, Canada maintains its position at the top of Group A, tied with Switzerland on 11 points but leading with a superior goal differential.
