President Approves Governor Appointments for Punjab, KP, and Balochistan
In a significant development, President Asif Ali Zardari has given his nod to the appointments of Sardar Saleem Haider, Faisal Karim Kundi, and Jaffar Khan Mandokhail as governors of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Balochistan, respectively. The decision, made in accordance with Article 101(1) of the Constitution, follows recommendations from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Sardar Saleem Haider Khan and Faisal Karim Kundi, both loyalists of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), were nominated by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for the gubernatorial positions in Punjab and KP after deliberations. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari finalized the appointments during a meeting held at the Prime Minister House.

Saleem Haider, a prominent figure from Punjab’s Attock district and former federal minister, will succeed the incumbent Governor Baligh Ur Rehman. Faisal Karim Kundi, currently serving as PPP’s central information secretary, is designated for the KP governorship.
Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, a seasoned politician with an extensive background in public service, is appointed as the governor of Balochistan. Mandokhail, who held various ministerial positions in the past, brings a wealth of experience to the role.
The coalition government formed by the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and PPP agreed to allocate key constitutional posts, including governors of Punjab and KP, to the PPP as part of their collaboration at the federal level. These appointments mark a significant step in the consolidation of the coalition government’s agenda and reflect the collaborative efforts of both political parties in governance.
