Eid ul Fitr: Dates Confirmed for Canada, Saudi, Australia, UK, and UAE

As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, Muslims around the world eagerly anticipate the joyous occasion of Eid ul Fitr. With the sighting of the Shawwal moon, the dates for Eid celebrations have been confirmed in several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Australia, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In Saudi Arabia and the UAE, where the Shawwal moon was not sighted, Ramadan will conclude after a full 30 days, with Eid ul Fitr set to be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10. The announcement was made by Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court, with directives issued for Eid prayers to be held 15 minutes after sunrise in accordance with the Umm Al-Qura calendar.

Similarly, the Australian Fatwa Council and Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith UK have also confirmed Eid celebrations on April 10. The Saudi Supreme Court had urged residents to report moon sightings, adhering to Sharia guidelines that sighting can be done with the naked eye or binoculars, followed by notification to the nearest court or center.

Eid ul Fitr holds significant cultural and religious importance, symbolizing the culmination of fasting and spiritual reflection during Ramadan. It is a time for feasting, gatherings, prayers, and gift-giving, observed over three days in the month of Shawwal.

Meanwhile, in Pakistan, the Met Office predicts the first day of Eid ul Fitr to fall on April 10, with the Shawwal moon expected to be sighted on April 9. The crescent is anticipated to be born on April 8 at 11:21 pm, with visibility for over 50 minutes around sundown the next day.

As Muslims prepare to bid farewell to Ramadan and embrace the festivities of Eid ul Fitr, communities worldwide unite in celebration and prayer, marking the end of a month-long journey of spiritual growth and devotion.
