In a thrilling encounter in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine, Quetta Gladiators emerged victorious over Islamabad United by three wickets. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the match:

Quetta Gladiators chased down a target of 145 runs, led by skipper Rilee Rossouw’s resilient unbeaten knock of 34 runs off 38 balls. Despite early setbacks, including the dismissal of opener Saud Shakeel and contributions from Jason Roy and Khawaja Nafay, Gladiators displayed determination in reaching the target in the 19th over.

The team faced a formidable bowling attack from Islamabad United, with Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan each claiming two wickets, while Hunain and Rumman Raees secured one wicket apiece.

On the batting front, Islamabad United managed to post a total of 138/9 in their allotted 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Despite a strong start from Alex Hales, who scored a quickfire 21 runs off nine balls, Gladiators’ bowlers, particularly Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim Jr, wreaked havoc on United’s middle order.

Salman Ali Agha emerged as the top-scorer for United with a brisk 33 runs off 23 balls, supported by Colin Munro’s 20 runs off 22 deliveries. However, the team faced a collapse in the middle overs, with Abrar and Wasim Jr claiming three wickets each.

Overall, Quetta Gladiators’ victory underscores their resilience and determination in the PSL season nine, positioning them as strong contenders in the tournament.
