In a decisive move aimed at economic revitalization, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has pledged to abolish all institutions, ministries, and departments that have become a financial burden on the country. The Prime Minister emphasized that this bold step will save taxpayers billions of rupees and steer Pakistan toward prosperity.

Addressing the nation on Saturday, PM Shehbaz highlighted the critical need to dismantle non-performing governmental bodies. “The abolishment of all ministries and departments which, instead of serving the nation, have become a burden on the masses is indispensable,” he stated.

Reflecting on the economic conditions when his government took power, PM Shehbaz credited the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) alliance and top leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), including President Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, for their roles in averting a national default. “We saved the country from default,” he affirmed.

The Prime Minister lauded his government’s prudent economic policies, noting significant progress despite ongoing challenges. “The country is now moving on a path of progress after coming out of economic difficulties,” he said. He underscored that this path, while challenging and lengthy, demands sacrifices from government higher-ups and the elite.

Highlighting the government’s achievements, PM Shehbaz noted a significant reduction in inflation from 38% to 12% and a decrease in the interest rate on loans from 22% to 20.5%. “This would promote investment and the country would walk down the path of prosperity at a greater pace,” he explained.

The Prime Minister also pointed to recent petrol and diesel price cuts as a relief measure for inflation-hit citizens. However, he acknowledged the need for further action amidst the “storm of inflation” over the past four years that has severely impacted the poor.

PM Shehbaz reiterated his commitment to providing continued relief to the nation, reducing inflation, expanding investments, and offering higher education opportunities to the youth. He called for national unity and collective effort to overcome personal differences and serve the underprivileged.

“We are serious about making Quaid’s dream come true and assure the nation that no difficulty would be an obstacle if we work hard and keep the sentiment of sacrifice and selflessness alive,” he asserted.

Concluding his address, PM Shehbaz emphasized the importance of learning from the past to reclaim Pakistan’s lost glory. He reaffirmed his commitment to realizing Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s vision, stating that with dedication and sacrifice, “no one can impede our progress.”
