Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has expressed deep disappointment following Pakistan’s narrow defeat to India, emphasizing the need for significant changes within the team. Speaking to journalists at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, Naqvi described the loss as disheartening and indicative of underlying issues that require a “major surgery” within the team.

“Defeat against India was disappointing in every sense,” Naqvi stated, underscoring his dissatisfaction with the team’s performance. Despite Pakistan’s bowlers restricting India to a modest 119 runs, the batting lineup faltered, leading to a six-run loss.

Naqvi revealed his awareness of the internal issues plaguing the team. “It seemed that a minor surgery would work but after this bad performance,

I’m now sure that a major surgery is required. The nation will soon see a major overhaul,” he said. Naqvi stressed that improving the team’s performance is paramount, especially with the Champions Trophy 2025 on the horizon. “The time has come to give a chance to the outside talent,” he asserted, aiming to rebuild and elevate the Pakistani cricket team to a world-class level.

Pakistan’s batting lineup missed a crucial opportunity to revitalize their campaign, falling short in chasing a mere 120-run target. The team ended at 113 for 7, handing India an unlikely victory. This defeat leaves Pakistan in a precarious position, dependent on other match outcomes to determine their advancement chances.
