ICC Expands Partnership with DP World Ahead of Men’s T20 World Cup
Dubai, UAE – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced an expanded partnership with DP World, a global leader in smart end-to-end supply chain logistics. This move elevates DP World to the Premier Partner tier, reinforcing their long-term commitment to growing cricket globally.
Since partnering in June 2023, the ICC and DP World have collaborated to deliver cricket equipment at the grassroots level and provide advanced logistics for major ICC events. The enhanced partnership comes as excitement builds for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, set to take place from June 1-29, 2024, across nine locations in the USA and West Indies.
Notably, this will be the first ICC World Cup hosted in the United States, with 16 group stage matches held in New York, Texas, and Florida.
DP World has played a crucial role in the World Cup preparations, transporting 10 grass pitches from Florida to the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Utilizing over 20 vehicles, each pitch was carefully prepared and transported using DP World’s sophisticated logistics capabilities, ensuring efficient and sustainable delivery.
Beyond logistics, DP World is actively involved in grassroots cricket development through the Beyond Boundaries Initiative. Launched during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, the initiative pledges cricket kits for every 100 runs scored in the tournament. To date, over 2,500 kits have been pledged, with 1,750 delivered to aspiring cricketers in India, South Africa, and the UAE.
The partnership aligns with the ICC’s mission to expand cricket globally. DP World will now work closely with the ICC on the criiio programme, celebrating diverse ways cricket is played worldwide.
Anurag Dahiya, ICC Chief Commercial Officer, stated: “DP World has been a highly supportive and active partner. Their upgrade to Premier Partner status underscores the significant value our partnerships bring to global brands. The ICC is proud to continue our journey at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and beyond, confident that working with industry experts like DP World makes expanding cricket to new regions and audiences much easier.”
