On May 26, security forces launched an IBO in the general area of Hassan Khel, Peshawar district. During this operation, six terrorists were neutralized, and multiple hideouts were dismantled. Tragically, Captain Hussain Jehangir and Havildar Shafiq Ullah embraced martyrdom while fighting bravely in this engagement.
The following day, May 27, another operation took place in the Tank district, where troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, resulting in the deaths of ten terrorists.
A third operation occurred in the general area of Bagh, Khyber district, where security forces killed seven terrorists and injured two others. During the intense exchange of fire, five soldiers, including Naik Muhammad Ashfaq Butt (32, district Kahuta), Lance Naik Syed Danish Afkar (30, district Poonch), Sepoy Taimoor Malik (32, district Layyah), Sepoy Nadir Sageer (22, district Bagh), and Sepoy Muhammad Yasin (23, district Khushab), heroically embraced martyrdom.
The operations led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the neutralized terrorists. These militants were actively involved in various terrorist activities targeting both security forces and innocent civilians.
Security forces are currently conducting sanitization operations to eliminate any remaining terrorist presence in the area. The ISPR emphasized the resolve of security forces to eradicate terrorism from the country, stating, “Such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”
The Pakistan Army has expressed ongoing concerns about the use of Afghan soil by militants, noting an increase in infiltration attempts and terrorist incidents originating from the neighboring country. The military highlighted ongoing counter-terror operations, including those in the Sambaza area of Balochistan’s Zhob district since April 21, which have so far resulted in the neutralization of 29 terrorists.
