May 27, 2024 – CBC has announced an exciting lineup of scripted shows for the upcoming fall and winter seasons, featuring well-known talents such as hip-hop duo Snotty Nose Rez Kids, writer-actor Allan Hawco, and comedy creators Jennifer Whalen and Meredith MacNeill.

Set to premiere in early 2025, “Snotty Nose Rez Kids” is a half-hour scripted show that chronicles the “not-even-true, real-life story” of Haisla Nation artists Quinton Nyce and Darren Metz, known as Yung Trybez and Young D. The series follows their journey from the music scene to television fame, capitalizing on their success with hits like the Prism Prize-winning video for “Damn Right” and their Polaris Music Prize-shortlisted album “I’m Good, HBU?”

CBC’s fall and winter programming promises a mix of fresh content and beloved returning series, aiming to captivate a wide range of audiences.

Allan Hawco, famed for “Republic of Doyle,” returns as co-showrunner and star of “Saint-Pierre.” This crime procedural, co-run by Robina Lord-Stafford, focuses on a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary inspector exiled to the French territory of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. The series is set to air in early 2025.

The creators of “Baroness Von Sketch Show,” Jennifer Whalen and Meredith MacNeill, are back with “Small Achievable Goals.” This workplace sitcom, premiering in early 2025, centers on podcast producers navigating menopause.

“North of North,” created by the team behind “The Grizzlies,” follows a young Inuk mother starting anew. This comedy series is also slated for a 2025 debut.

Fan favorites like “Heartland” and “Murdoch Mysteries” return for their 18th seasons this fall, alongside the fourth season of “Son of a Critch” in 2025. New unscripted shows include “Locals Welcome,” hosted by Toronto food writer Suresh Doss, highlighting lesser-known eateries.

This fall, “Paid in Full,” a docuseries on the history of Black artists in the music industry, will be executive produced by Idris and Sabrina Elba and narrated by Jully Black. Additionally, journalist Tanya Talaga presents “The Knowing,” documenting her family’s eight-decade search for their matriarch.

While new shows are on the horizon, some series won’t be returning. The Andrew Phung-created “Run the ‘Burbs,” D.J. Demers’s “One More Time,” and Bilal Baig’s “Sort Of” have been canceled.
