PM Urges Peace Amidst Violent Clashes in AzadKashmir
Addressing the situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the fundamental principles of democracy, emphasizing the significance of debate, discussion, and peaceful protests. However, he firmly stated that there should be “absolutely no tolerance for taking the law in one’s own hands” and damaging public property.
The premier’s remarks come in the wake of the AJK government’s deployment of Rangers to quell protests organized by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC). Despite the volatile situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged all parties to pursue peaceful means for addressing their grievances.
Expressing condolences over the loss of a police officer and injuries sustained during the clashes, the premier condemned any attempts to exploit the situation for political gain. He has directed PML-N office bearers in AJK to engage in dialogue with the leaders of the action committee to facilitate a peaceful resolution.
Meanwhile, members of the JAAC have distanced themselves from the violent incidents, affirming that their movement remains peaceful. Anjuman Tajran President Sahabzada Waqas emphasized that the protest is not directed against any state institution, reiterating their commitment to peaceful advocacy for their demands.
Despite disruptions in mobile phone and internet services across AJK, Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq has assured the public of the government’s readiness to address concerns related to electricity and wheat flour prices. He emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing negotiated agreements and reiterated the importance of maintaining public security.
