In response to the tragic terrorist assault in Shangla that resulted in the loss of six lives, including five Chinese nationals, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has issued a resolute statement, affirming the unwavering commitment of the military to safeguard all foreign citizens, particularly the Chinese nationals contributing to Pakistan’s prosperity.

During an emergency meeting convened by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, COAS Munir reiterated the armed forces’ determination to eradicate terrorism, emphasizing the nation’s steadfast resilience over the past two decades in combating this menace.

COAS Munir underscored the underestimation of Pakistan’s resolve by its adversaries in light of recent terrorist incidents, declaring an unyielding stance against terrorism until every threat to Pakistan’s people and its guests is neutralized.

The high-level meeting, attended by federal ministers, chief ministers, and law enforcement officials, condemned the heinous attack targeting innocent civilians working on vital development projects. PM Shehbaz conveyed heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and assured swift justice for the perpetrators.

Highlighting the enduring bond between Pakistan and China, PM Shehbaz praised the prompt response of law enforcement agencies and locals, averting further loss of life. He called for a thorough joint investigation to bring the culprits to justice.

Addressing the trans-national nature of terrorism, PM Shehbaz emphasized the concerted efforts required to counter this threat, particularly noting attempts to strain the Pakistan-China friendship.

The meeting participants expressed firm resolve in rooting out terrorism and stressed the need for a regional approach to tackle sanctuaries harboring terrorists across borders.
