PTV and Tower Sports to Broadcast ICC Events in Pakistan
In a significant development for cricket enthusiasts across Pakistan, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has awarded the broadcast rights for its prestigious cricket events until the culmination of 2025. The rights have been clinched by Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) and Tower Sports, marking a milestone in the country’s cricket broadcasting landscape.
The partnership between the ICC and PTVC, along with Tower Sports, encompasses a range of high-profile men’s and women’s cricket tournaments. Notably, both entities have secured non-exclusive rights for six ICC World events, including marquee tournaments such as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
This collaboration extends beyond traditional television broadcasting, as PTVC and Tower Sports will also have digital rights, enabling cricket enthusiasts across Pakistan to access live coverage and engage with their favorite sport through digital platforms.
Geoff Allardice, Chief Executive of the ICC, expressed delight in welcoming PTVC and Tower Sports as broadcast partners. Recognizing Pakistan’s immense cricket following, Allardice emphasized the importance of expanding access to ICC events, thereby catering to the passionate cricket fan base in the country.
Sayyed Mubashar Tauqir Shah, Managing Director of PTVC, hailed the acquisition of ICC rights as a significant milestone. He emphasized PTVC’s commitment to delivering premium sports content to millions of cricket aficionados across Pakistan, thereby enhancing the viewing experience for audiences nationwide.
CEO of Tower Sports, Duraid Qureshi, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the company’s dedication to providing unparalleled sports entertainment. Qureshi expressed pride in securing the rights to broadcast world-class cricket events, highlighting Tower Sports’ commitment to bringing the excitement of ICC World Cups directly to Pakistani screens.
