Jaromir Jagr Bobblehead Heist: Penguins’ Iconic Souvenirs Disappear
In an unexpected turn of events, bobbleheads featuring former NHL star Jaromir Jagr have gone missing, leaving the Pittsburgh Penguins and their fans in dismay.
The Penguins revealed on Thursday that a shipment containing bobbleheads of the franchise icon was stolen upon arrival in California. The team had planned to distribute these collectibles to fans during Thursday night’s home game against the San Jose Sharks. However, due to the theft, the club has opted to provide fans with vouchers to claim the items at a later date.
Kevin Acklin, the Penguins’ president of business operations, expressed disappointment over the incident and assured fans that the club is actively working to resolve the situation. He mentioned that the team has reached out to state and federal authorities to investigate the theft.
“While this unfortunate incident adds to the legend of Jaromir Jagr, who will be in attendance as our guest at (the) game, we look forward to resolving this theft and delivering the prized Jagr bobbleheads to their rightful homes, with our fans,” said Acklin in a statement.
The Penguins recently honored Jagr by retiring his No. 68 jersey in a pregame ceremony held last month. Despite being 52 years old, Jagr, the NHL’s second all-time leading scorer, remains involved in hockey as an active player and owner of a team in his native Czech Republic.
The disappearance of the Jagr bobbleheads has left fans disappointed and eager for a resolution to ensure these prized memorabilia items find their way into the hands of dedicated supporters.
