New Zealand Men’s Cricket Team Set to Tour Pakistan for T20I Series in April 2024
In a significant development for cricket enthusiasts, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced that the New Zealand Men’s cricket team is scheduled to visit Pakistan for a thrilling five-match T20I series in April.
The highly anticipated series is slated to take place from April 18 to April 27, with the Blackcaps arriving in Pakistan on April 14 to acclimatize and undergo rigorous training sessions ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled for June.
This marks New Zealand’s third visit to Pakistan in the past 17 months, underscoring the growing ties between the two cricketing nations. The previous visits in December 2022/January 2023 and April 2023 witnessed riveting encounters, with Pakistan and New Zealand showcasing their prowess in both Test and white-ball formats.
During the 2022-23 tour, the Test series ended in a draw while New Zealand clinched the ODI series 2-1. The subsequent T20I series resulted in a thrilling 2-2 draw, highlighting the competitive spirit between the two teams. Pakistan also dominated the ODIs, securing a convincing 4-1 victory.
In a reciprocal gesture, Pakistan visited New Zealand earlier this year, albeit suffering a 4-1 defeat in the T20I series.
The upcoming T20I series will kick off in Rawalpindi, with the first three matches scheduled to be held there before the action shifts to Lahore for the remaining games.
Usman Wahla, Pakistan’s Director of International Cricket, expressed delight at the upcoming tour, emphasizing the enduring camaraderie between PCB and New Zealand Cricket (NZC). He highlighted the significance of the series in the buildup to the ICC T20 World Cup, underscoring the mutual respect and strong relationship between the two cricketing nations.
Cricket fans across Pakistan eagerly await the arrival of the New Zealand team, anticipating yet another thrilling series that promises to captivate audiences and set the stage for an exciting cricketing spectacle.
