The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has once again extended invitations to apply for permanent residence (PR) through the Express Entry system, marking another significant development in Canada’s immigration landscape.

In the latest draw, IRCC issued 1,470 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates from all Express Entry programs. Candidates were required to meet a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 534.

This draw follows a series of others that took place between February 13-16th, including a general draw and targeted draws for specific occupations like healthcare and agriculture. These draws reflect Canada’s ongoing commitment to attract skilled immigrants across various sectors.

IRCC introduced category-based selection rounds in May 2023, covering a range of occupations including healthcare, STEM professions, trades, transport, agriculture, and strong French proficiency. These categories remain unchanged for 2024.

Express Entry serves as a management system for immigration applications, facilitating the processing of economic immigration candidates in programs like the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Candidates are assessed based on various factors including occupation, education, language ability, work experience, and age, with those scoring highest being more likely to receive an Invitation to Apply for PR status.

Candidates receiving nominations through the Provincial Nominee Program gain an additional 600 CRS points, significantly enhancing their chances of receiving an ITA.

IRCC’s Immigration Levels Plan outlines its targets for welcoming new PRs through Express Entry, aiming to admit 110,770 newcomers in 2024. This represents a notable increase from previous years, reflecting Canada’s commitment to economic immigration.

With Express Entry playing a pivotal role in Canada’s immigration strategy, candidates continue to seize opportunities to secure permanent residence and contribute to the country’s diverse and thriving communities.
