Canada Commits $60 Million to Support Ukraine’s F-16 Fighter Aircraft
Defence Minister Bill Blair has announced that Canada will provide $60 million in support to Ukraine for its F-16 fighter aircraft. This funding is part of the $500 million in military assistance previously announced by the Canadian government last spring.
The allocated funds will be used to source essential supplies and equipment for the F-16 fighters, including spare parts and ammunition. Minister Blair made the announcement during NATO ministerial meetings in Brussels
Canada has been a steadfast supporter of Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia. As the two-year anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion approaches, Canada is reaffirming its commitment to standing alongside Ukraine and deepening coordination and cooperation with its allies and partners.
In addition to the $60 million in support for Ukraine’s F-16 fighter aircraft, Canada has been actively involved in assisting Ukraine in various ways. Last month, Canada announced its plans to help train Ukrainian pilots to fly the F-16.
