In the wake of Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha’s shocking disclosure about electoral irregularities in the February 8 nationwide polls, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has called for the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate the allegations.

During a press conference in Islamabad, PTI leader Barrister Gohar asserted that Commissioner Chatha’s statement corroborated PTI’s concerns regarding electoral malpractice. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the matter, stressing that the truth must be revealed to the nation.

Chatha’s resignation from his post in protest against the alleged rigging further fueled PTI’s demand for accountability. The outgoing commissioner admitted to succumbing to pressure and revealed attempts to take his own life, citing undue influence in the electoral process.

Barrister Gohar underscored the party’s stance, highlighting the imperative of a judicial inquiry to uncover the truth behind the rigged election results. He criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for its failure to uphold transparency and demanded that the final vote results be announced in accordance with the real mandate.

Echoing Gohar’s sentiments, PTI central general secretary Omar Ayub condemned the purported tactics used to undermine the party’s integrity, including police raids and intimidation of party leaders and workers. He expressed confidence in PTI’s ability to secure victory in the upcoming elections and urged the ECP to officially recognize the party’s success.

Furthermore, Omar clarified that PTI had no intention of forming alliances with rival parties such as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), reaffirming the party’s commitment to its principles.

As PTI intensifies its efforts to address electoral discrepancies and safeguard democratic values, the call for a judicial commission underscores the party’s unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability in Pakistan’s electoral process.
